Where does the train go?

The train travels north through Bernheim Forest and the Jim Beam distillery property to Limestone Springs and back.

What is the length of the excursion?

The trip is a 37 mile round trip excursion. The train ride is approximately 2 ½ hours. Special children's excursions, for ages 3 through 12, and breakfast excursions are approximately 1 ½ hours in length.

Does the train stop anywhere along the route?

The train stops in Limestone Springs where the Engines run around the train to pull it back. Passengers do not get off the train.

Can children ride the train?

Children ages 5 through 12 are permitted to ride the lunch, dinner and murder mystery excursions. We also offer children’s excursions for ages 3 through 12. Check under special events for the dates and times of these excursions.

Is a children’s menu available?

Children’s menu choices, for ages 5 through 12, are offered at a reduced price.

Is smoking permitted on the train?

The Dinner Train & Depot are non-smoking. Electronic cigarettes and vaporizers are not permitted.

Can I pay when I get there, or do you need payment in advance?

To guarantee seating, payment must be made in advance. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover.

Are private tables available?

Private seating may be purchased for an additional fee.

Is there a bar on the train?

Full bar service is available on the train and in the train depot except on Sundays.

Are there restrooms on the train?

All dining cars are equipped with restrooms.

What does the price include?

The final price you are given includes the meal, excursion and tax. Gratuity and cocktails are not included.

Are senior citizen discounts available?

Not at the present time.

Where do we board and pick up tickets?

Tickets can be picked up at the ticket counter in the train depot at 602 North Third Street in Bardstown, Kentucky. Tickets are there an hour before train departure time. Boarding is also at that location.

What is the dress code?

For attire, My Old Kentucky Dinner Train requires business casual dress.
For women, reasonable length skirts or full length trousers combined with an appropriate top (dress shirt, polo or sweater set) is acceptable.
For men, collared shirts (dress shirts or polo’s) or sweaters paired with dress slacks or khakis is acceptable.
My Old Kentucky Dinner Train adheres to these standards, and we ask you to please come appropriately dressed for our fine dining excursions.

What are Murder Mysteries?

They are theater productions that are performed on the train by professional actors. Passengers may participate in the production if they wish. Murder Mysteries are offered several times throughout the year.

What days are excursions offered?

The Dinner Train schedules excursions Tuesday through Sunday. Schedules change seasonally.

Are you handicapped accessible?

Yes. Please let the staff know if you need boarding assistance when you make your reservations.

Is the train air conditioned and/or heated?

The Dinner Train is a climate controlled environment.

What are the menus offered?

Yes, please go to the Menu Page. We will ask you for your menu selections when you make your reservation.

How do you accommodate parties of 5, 6 and 7?

All of our tables seat 4 as in the tradition of railroad dining. Parties of 5 are seated 3 at one table and 2 at the table directly across the isle. Parties of 6 are seated 4 at one table and 2 directly across the isle. In both the above cases there is a chance a party of 2 will be seated with the remaining party of 2. In the case of 7 we sit 4 at one table and 3 directly across from them.

How big does my group need to be to qualify for group pricing?

Group pricing is available for groups of 10 or more.
